Small mobile home "eistrim remodel": the perfect portable

Trailer

Today we want to tell visitors about the trailer from Wisconsin, who finally said goodbye to the seventies and moved to the present.

Active fans of experiments Aaron and Amy Karman went on a hunt for the ancient trailers "Eistrim" to conduct their re-equipment and test. Acquiring the 1971 Eystream Caravel on one of the sites, the couple spent four years reworking the outdated avocado interior, turning it into a bright and modern living space. Lightweight materials that do not weight the move, the TV and stereo system have helped turn a mediocre trailer into the perfect option for portable recreation. As Amy said, she always saw him as an adult fort.

What: Trailer after reconstruction Owners: Amy and Aaron Pocket Location: Milwaukee Size: 30 square meters. Time: reconstructed for four years Cost: about $ 6800

Spouses Pocket from the outset planned to do a reconstruction, so they could afford to buy a less worn option. However, they very much wanted their first experience with the transformation of Eistrim to be successful, so they acquired an older model so that by doing the work they could work and study at the same time.

In the design of this model, some amusing shapes and silhouettes have survived, which easily succumbed to a more modern finish. Both spouses have tremendous experience working with the reconstruction of interiors, but the curved shape of Eistrim and its small area created some complexity in the beginning of work. Unlike all previous projects, the reconstruction was very laborious.

The appearance of the trailer

They removed all the interior trim "Eistrim", carefully examining every centimeter to make an overall picture of the reconstruction. The goal was to create a bright and bright space with a lot of effective storage systems. As Amy said, we had to put boxes and doors wherever possible. Additional cabinets were hidden under benches, sink and counter top.

Interior of the trailer

Aaron created a green sculptural wall in the kitchen, using light and strong wood material from Asia. Each piece was cut separately, making up with the rest a kind of puzzle. Thus, the basis of the interior was an unobtrusive greenish shade.

An orange sofa, refreshing space with its brightness, if desired, turns into a full-sized bed. At first, the spouses wanted to make furniture to order, but instead they got the usual affordable model in a mediocre furniture store.

The living room of the trailer

For finishing, Aaron used a new fittings, wall panels and mahogany countertops. In the bathroom, the walls are decorated with bamboo. For the main color gamut was a combination of gentle peach and cream tones.

The couple chose the natural tree as the main material, since it has less weight than stone or concrete. Here you can see laminated surfaces of bamboo shades.

Plate in the kitchen of the trailer

In addition to the original plate and refrigerator, from the kitchen in 1971, almost nothing remained. New designer cabinets with inserts of bamboo contribute to maximum illumination and cleanliness of the interior. All equipment can be powered by both electricity and gas, so Karman chose this particular model.

The curved front and rear parts of the trailer are specially ordered with flexible finishes and a special laminate. The elucidation of the technology of working with such a round shape of the hull took quite a long time before the spouses achieved the ideal result.

Bamboo furnish is found in the bathroom areas, the breakfast corner, and in the area where the bed of Amy and Aaron's daughter is located.

The appearance of the trailer

The upper part of the ceiling in the breakfast room is equipped with a video system where the family can play video games or watch TV on rainy days of camping. And the TV is hidden by a universal panel and is pushed out only when necessary.

Exterior of the trailer

The appearance of the Eistrim, of course, also needed a reconstruction. The aluminum coating of trailers, which was usually used in these models in the 60's and 70's, began to deform, crack and fall off. Husband and wife professionally removed the coating and polished the external surface, on which it was necessary to spend a third of the total budget. But the result was great!

In the winter, the "Eistrim" is kept in a closed garage in order to avoid damage to the hull, although sometimes you have to deal with removing stains and rust. But this is a trifle compared to the work that was done in order to give the trailer a new modern appearance.
