Docking between flights at ten o'clock was a good occasion to walk around Kiev. Relatives dissuaded and warned, but we enlisted the support of Kiev friends, took a camera and went to Maidan and Khreshchatyk. It was a weekday, the city was living its own life: someone was hurrying to work, someone was dining in a cafe - everything in the capital of Ukraine was running its course. If we do not know what is happening in the east of the country, we would hardly have guessed at all that there is any tension.
Kiev friends, travelers like us, noted that in all of Ukraine only the dumb does not talk about politics:
- See for yourself and show others that here not animals live, but normal people. In fact, no one wants war. We are good to Russia and the Russians. Fraternal peoples, after all. It is clear that we are being manipulated, but we do not want to become part of an empire again, just like under the Soviet Union. The whole situation rallied the people. There was a national spirit. We felt like a whole, and it's worth a lot.
On Maidan stands the House of Trade Unions burnt. A mute monument of recent events. The guys say that today it is already cleaned. Russian here no one kills, as we were frightened by relatives from Russia. Khreshchatyk. Campground on site. It's quiet in it. We look for an improvised fence. Someone is smoking, someone lazily fell apart under the already hot spring sun. All that remains of the protest, today resembles a theater, albeit a theater of military operations. The main corpse has already left, but some actors still remain. Along the tents - a market with souvenirs. From the trays sell national flags, scarves with Ukrainian symbols, badges, the legendary golden loaves and golden toilets.
Throughout the city, hundreds of posters and posters with candidates for elections have been plastered. Hot. Poplar fluff flies into your eyes. Beautiful - look!
