Design of the hallway and interior corridor in a small area

Modern design of the hallway

In any apartment or house, the hallway serves as a "passage" room. This is also the "face" of the apartment, according to which guests can judge the nature and tastes of the owners, and its most important "transport" node. By standard planning, all the doors to other housing units are located in the hallway. Often, the dimensions of this room leave much to be desired, so the design will have to be refined to fit all the necessary elements of furniture and do not clutter up their space.

Modern technologies of laminate production also allow us to talk about its strength, but the material is characterized by increased "slipperiness", which is undesirable in the hallway. Parquet board is made of natural wood, so, despite the special processing of the material, it is most susceptible to moisture. For the hallway this type of cover is not suitable. The carpet looks beautiful, gives the room a touch of chic, but it will require constant care. If nevertheless you decided to lay a carpet, then it must be combined with the lower layer of hard coating. This technique will extend the life of the material. The walls are most often treated in two ways:

  • Ground and glue wallpaper;
  • Prime and color.

Laminate flooring on the hallway

Traditionally, the hall is decorated in brown calm tones. For small rooms of up to 4 square meters, a simple principle is followed: the floor must be a few tones darker than the color of the walls and in no way the reverse. The ceiling is usually undeservedly forgotten. It is painted in a classic white color and stops at this, but there are a lot of variants of the original ceiling finish. If the room is not only tiny, but also with a low ceiling, then the experiments really have to abstain, by choosing the pastel shades and playing the light.

With high ceilings, the front of the work will grow. They can be made stepped, tensioned or paneled. In multi-level it is easy to hide additional sources of illumination, and panel panels perfectly hide flaws and curvature of walls. Panel ceilings made of plastic or plasterboard in aesthetics are not inferior to hinged, but in addition they are affordable and easy to install. For multi-level ceilings gypsum cardboard is ideal: it can easily take any form, so your imagination will not have to be limited only by sharp angles.

Wallpaper or painting

The choice of wallpaper directly depends on the overall style, in which the whole hallway will be maintained. For modern "bold" directions "bright" wallpaper with bright prints and geometric patterns will do. For rooms in classical styles, use either solid wallpaper of calm colors, or with a gentle, neat pattern. If the hallway has a square shape and low ceilings, it is worth considering the option of wallpaper with vertical lines that extend upwards and carry the space of the room behind them. The same move is used in wide corridors, where the deficit of space is concentrated at the top. Wallpaper with horizontal stripes suitable for hallways of rectangular shapes with high ceilings. Vertical lines mean not only a clear pattern on the wallpaper, it can be an invoice that looks like a fabric. Imitation of the fabric consists in depicting the structure of the pattern of fibers that stretch in one direction, thereby setting a "geometric" picture. Wallpapers with silver and gold embossing, imitating fabrics or "sleeping" metal, became a trend of the outgoing year.

Different floor coverings in the interior

Painting the walls of the hallway does not lose in comparison with the wallpaper. Moreover, it even has a "strong" advantage: such walls can be washed without harm to cover. Before the main works, the walls are shpatlyuyut (if necessary), ground and grind. Acrylic primer will require at least a day for complete drying. Taking into account the peculiarities of the premises, the best materials for painting will be:

  • Acrylic dispersion;
  • Alkyd Enamel;
  • Butadiene-styrene aqueous dispersion.

Any of the types of paints are applied in two layers: the first brush, and the second roller. Original decoration on painted walls looks like decorating with other materials. For example, in the corner of the hallway, a corner of the brickwork suddenly opens. The move completely corresponds to the principles of industrial style.

It is important to know. The putty is used not only to "cover" defects. Gypsum putty must be applied over the entire surface area with a thin layer. Its after drying and polishing. The more carefully the gypsum is polished, the steadier your walls will be. As the main tool it is better to use an abrasive mesh.

Color spectrum

Since we are talking about small, "typical" halls, then with special colors experiments will not work. Suffice it to recall the golden rule: "Dark colors make the room less, and bright it visually expand." So, black, dark shades of brown, gray, blue, red as a background will have to be rejected immediately. They can be present in the environment, but exclusively "portioned", in the form of small elements. The choice can only be between two options:

  • Warm colors;
  • Cold colors.

Red door in the gray interior of the hallway

Yellow, orange, lilac, brown, beige, pink, grassy green will make the entrance hall "soft" and warm. Blue, purple, turquoise, blue, azure, marsh green, gray will add to the cold. Each of the above colors is combined with neutral white and black. A moderate number of colors in combination for interior decoration is considered to be three. You can choose, for example, one universal, one cold and one warm. Two colors are used as the basis for design, and the "tearing" the third give details. For such modern trends as the Scandinavian style, minimalism, industrial, you can use a combination of two cool colors and one neutral. Excessive severity of the hallway completely fits into the concept of these directions.

Lighting

For small hallways, the presence of "volumetric" lighting is especially important. You can achieve this effect in several ways:

  • When decorating the walls, make decorative niches, in which additional light sources will be built. If you can not work with the wall, then use for furnishing items of furniture: a narrow and high rack with a pair of "highlighted" vases or sculptures.
  • At each "step" of the multi-level ceiling, lines of small point light sources are placed, wiring is "sewed" behind the panels, which allows to preserve the aesthetic beauty of the finish.
  • In a separate area, install a box of frosted glass, behind which hide powerful lights. Most often, this decorative panel is installed on walls where mirrors could be placed.
  • Design a horizontal panel with chiseled bulbs on the wall just above human growth. Install a few elegant, "elongated" lamps on the floor or sconces on the walls.

Try to use as many different sources of light as possible. The more "beams" directed in different directions, the wider the appearance of the hall.

Furniture

Since we are dealing with a typical for Khrushchev's hallway, then we will have to work with a minimum of furniture. Unfortunately, you can not fit everything you need in such rooms. Something has to be sacrificed necessarily. Storage space can not be discounted. Outer clothing, hats and shoes should be stored somewhere. There are two options:

  • Cupboard;
  • Suspended hanger with a curbstone under it for storing shoes.

The third method can be the installation of a dressing room, in tight hallways there is not enough room to accommodate an additional separate room, so this decision is very difficult to implement.

Closet in the hallway

On which particular option to stay depends only on the number of residents and, accordingly, the number of their belongings. If clothes accumulate a heap, then the open coat rack will look in the hallway inaccurately and absolutely unaesthetically. So the choice falls on the cabinet. Preference is usually given to wardrobes, but they also have a drawback: such furniture is quite bulky and there is a danger of "eating" it all the space of the hallway. To avoid the undesirable effect, "clone" the hallway in the mirror surface of the cabinet panels. Corner cabinet is also worth considering as an option, but it is suitable only for elongated hallways of rectangular shape. "Stolen" just one corner, this closet will leave the other three free for other interior items. As seats you can use a universal cabinet for shoes with soft upholstery or put several puffs, chairs. Must be in the hallway and a small chest of drawers or a table. Recently, the furnishing elements that do not have legs have become fashionable. Beds, tables and chairs rest against the wall, where they are held in a suspended state with the help of special fasteners. Such "floating" chairs will add an entrance hall of lightness and will attract attention of surprised guests.

In a modern style

The hallway is no exception to other rooms and just like them, it obeys the general principles of the modernist style:

  • Use of predominantly monochromatic surfaces.
  • Among the colors, the palm tree is intercepted by gray, black and white, brown, their shades and combinations. It is acceptable to use bright "point" cents of red, yellow or blue.
  • In the room of straight lines and sharp angles more than round "bends".
  • Drawings are not welcome. If they do exist, they are exceptionally discreet and soft. It is acceptable to use strips of different widths and colors instead of ornaments.
  • Simplicity in furnishing. Focus on natural materials. The front door is decorated in light colors.

Modern style allows for small deviations from its canons, because it changes dynamically, like the surrounding reality. To match its name, modernity constantly takes on all the new trends of design fashion, which can be found in specialized publications.

In classic style

In the style of Provence

The light style of the French outback can easily be distinguished by its characteristic features. It is peculiar for him:

  • Use of natural materials, mainly wood.
  • Light color scale: the emphasis is on blue, pink, delicate green in tandem with white, beige, cream colors.
  • Presence of flower patterns and ornaments.
  • Presence of decor elements "antique".
  • Cotton and linen in the upholstery of furniture.

Anteroom in Provence style

In a small hallway of a city apartment with the help of Provence one can create a cozy corner resembling a village, fresh air and a measured life of the countryside.

Instead of pouffes and strict closets cabinets use wooden benches and open hangers. In "old pots" put indoor plants. Combined wallpapers: monochrome parts are combined with "cheerful" wallpaper with bouquets of flowers. Soft cushions on the bench, wicker baskets for umbrellas and walking sticks, old chandeliers, mirrors in wooden frames and carpets with patterns on the floor - all these are details of the French style.

Loft style

Loft - a modern style, one of the "branches" of industrial. It is characterized by the use of natural materials and rough textures. One of the mandatory elements of the direction is considered to be untreated brickwork. One wall in the hallway can be decorated with a brick. Elements of furniture should be as "simplified" with the use of metal, stone or marble. The abundance of cold light will emphasize the severity of the style. Of the shades of preference, contrast is given in gray, white with black, blue and "brick" brown. If the walls are painted, rough strokes with poorly colored places are welcomed. Such negligence is considered one of the "whales" on which the direction stands. If the atmosphere of the hallway remains a clear imprint of the uninhabited, industrial premises, then you can catch the mood of the style.

Hallway design 2 square meters

As a rule, an anteroom area of only 2 sq.m. have a rectangular shape. To put massive furniture along the walls is not rational, since such a move will clutter the space and interfere with free movement. In this case, the only option is to consider minimalism. The style welcomes only the functionality of the elements. Narrow pedestal or bench on one side, and a hanging hanger on the other. If there are a lot of things to store, then it's worthwhile to think about creating a separate dressing room in another room. On the hanger leave only seasonal clothes. The use of mirrors in such a tiny room is vital. They will have to be supplemented with light sources at different levels. From the decoration is possible only a minimum of small elements, creating a sense of being in nature.

Hallway design 2 sq. M

Important advice. Finishing works are easy to carry out with their own hands, but the design of the hallway design 2 to 2, will either have to be carefully worked out or refer to specialists. The correct arrangement of furniture guarantees up to 80% of the success of the entire repair "campaign".

3-4 square meters

The entrance hall is 4 square meters. m is considered standard. For its interior, almost any style is suitable. This season, the emphasis is on wood in materials and soft light. Do not forget about the decor. One big picture on the entire free wall or a series of photos with colorful images of nature, placed even on the side wall of the cabinet, will look great. On the ceiling it is recommended to mount decorative panels in tone to the general color solution. Behind the panels hide chiseled light sources. Do not forget about the greenery. A narrow and compact corner shelf in several tiers, on which pots with palm trees will settle, will add lives to the room. A stylish corner cabinet with a hanger, decorated in a combination of black and cream colors, will complement the atmosphere of comfort and chic.

Entrance hall design 3 sq. M

Important advice. To the situation was not boring, paint is brought into it with the help of paintings or a whole series of works of art and their reproductions. The direction of painting should echo the style of the hallway design of 4 sq. M.

5-6 square meters

Entrance hall with the possibility of "playing" with space. The room can no longer be called close, so you can afford pleasant little things in the form of hinged shelves, mounted in the wall without visible fastenings and bright accents. Red chairs or bright yellow shelves will not spoil the situation. The original solution is to place in such a room a wide aquarium mounted in the wall. Such a design move will fit into any of the modern styles. On the mirror of the wardrobe-coupe can be depicted a matte painting, which gracefully emphasizes the good taste of the owners of the house. For example, an image of a tree on a cliff will enter into minimalism or decoration with "subtle" notes of the east. You can experiment with the lighting temperature by combining the sources of cold light with warm ones. The final picture can turn out very non-standard.

7-8 square meters

In this hallway visually increase the volume of the room and add natural light to the aesthetically matched furniture with sliding mirror panels. Massive, monumental things with intricate vignettes, like furniture with protruding corners on such a square should be avoided. They only "overload" the interior. A table of light tones or a shelf with rounded surfaces will fix the situation. Depending on the height of ceilings, it is possible to create point light sources in stretch ceilings, or, if ceilings are low, use local multi-level lighting (sconces, lamps). In the hallway, which has an elongated configuration, the floor should be divided into zones, using different colors or floor coverings of different textures (laminate, parquet, carpet, etc.). If the hallway has a shape with approximately equal length and width, then this is quite a "rather big" space in which you can create an impromptu lobby, placing a small sofa, a coffee table that will not interfere with the passage, and equipping a niche under the TV.

9-10 square meters

In the hall area of 9-10 sq.m. The design will be limited only by imagination. Finishing the floor and ceiling light, glossy, will create a feeling of even more free space and light. Wooden wall panels will be in harmony with the light sources of the "warm" spectrum. Someone will allow himself the idea not to dwell on the "classic", and playing with space by covering the floor with a 3D image (a green lawn or a forest glade, etc.) and photo wallpapers of the same theme and coloring will erase the boundary of reality. In this hallway you can place a large wardrobe that resembles a full-size wardrobe in size.
