Magnetic knife holder for own hands

Pay attention to this creative and inexpensive way to store all your knives in one place. A magnetic strip holder for the knives will allow you to place the knives in a conspicuous place and store them at your fingertips, practically without taking up excess space. Whatever one may say, it's worth a small waste of time and effort: this holder not only looks great, but also very functional. Stop digging the knife you need from the drawer! Get rid of the massive knife holder, which takes up a lot of space, as soon as possible and make this convenient holder quickly and at minimal cost.

The result of our work is the Magnetic knife holder

You will need:

  • a wooden bar about 2 cm thick (in our case a thin plank of walnut wood was used);
  • drill;
  • a 2-cm diameter Forstner drill;
  • superclose;
  • round magnets of high power 2 cm in diameter (the amount depends on the length of the wooden bar);
  • varnish spray for finishing;
  • 2 small brackets and 4 small nails;
  • a hammer

Instructions:

1. Find a suitable piece of wood and, if necessary, file it to the desired size (in our case a wooden bar about 2 cm in thickness and 20 cm in length is used, but you can choose the length and width that fit your individual needs). If you do not have a saw, you can ask to do this for you at the nearest household goods store.

Stages of our work

2. Using a drill equipped with a Forstner drill with a diameter of 2 cm, drill the holes in two rows on the back of the wooden bar. Holes should be close to each other, and their depth should be at least 1 cm, so that the magnets are located as close as possible to the front side of the bar, but you do not need to drill the bar right through.

We apply a couple of drops of superglue to the bottom of each hole

3. When all the necessary holes are made, apply a couple of drops of superglue to the bottom of each hole and place a magnet in each hole. Make sure that the magnets are positioned correctly and that they can effectively hold the knives on the bar through the tree. Leave the glue to dry to properly fix the magnets.

We apply a thin layer of varnish on the face of the bar

4. When the glue dries, use a spray to apply a thin coat of lacquer to the face of the strip. This will ensure the durability of the wooden surface, in case you will place wet knives on it.

Attach a pair of brackets to the back of the bar

5. As a finishing touch, attach a pair of brackets to the back of the bar so you can hang it on the wall. Fasten the brackets with small studs and arrange them equidistantly from each other so that the holder can easily hold the weight of the knives.

Our magnetic knife holder is ready!

Now you can drive a couple of bolts into the wall, on which your holder will hang, hang it on the wall and place your knives on it.

Enjoy your work
