The luxurious residence of Ukrainian ex-president Viktor Yanukovych has always been a mystery behind seven seals. However, on Saturday, after he fled the capital, Mezhyhirie opened its gates to thousands of visitors and they rushed inside to see with their own eyes how until recently the guarantor of their rights and freedoms lived.

The seen, perhaps, has surpassed the general expectations. It's not that someone really believed that the president lives "in a modest house on a small plot inside Mezhyhirie Park," as he claimed. But why in many reviews of that incredible luxury, which took millions of Ukrainian money, is mentioned such a word as "zhalobstvo"?

We decided to take a closer look at the details of the situation in which Viktor Yanukovich lived, and draw our own conclusion about his taste and preferences.

Structure of the complex Mezhyhirya

This huge mansion, located on almost 140 hectares of forest hills along the Dnieper, includes not only a dwelling house, but also a floating house for receptions, a huge garage, a zoo, a tennis court, a golf course, a shooting range, several pools with fountains and islets, horse club, bowling and Russian bath.

The heart of Mezhyrhorya is the club house "Honka", named after Honka, the Finnish company, the world leader in construction of ecologically clean wood. Honka Yanukovych is a large manor made of stone and wood, which combines classical and Gothic elements with upper floors in the style of a Swiss chalet.

This luxurious floating building is about 50 m in length and contains a restaurant, a private office and a spacious reception room. Italian and Greek sculptures, knight armor, numerous paintings and icons, furniture and accessories in the styles of baroque and rococo - everything here speaks of the love of the owners of the house to the ancient art and traditions.

But, as you know, the design of a house in the classical style is more expensive than others, as it involves the use of genuine works of art and expensive finishing materials. So, through the company "SPS-Group" residence in Mezhyhiria was supplemented with some very expensive components.

According to the Kyiv Post in December 2010, "SPS Group" bought a crystal chandelier worth about $ 45,000 for the living room of the Honka house. The same chic lamps were decorated with the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow and the presidential apartments in the Kremlin.

This is affected not only by the abundance of gilding and crystal, but also by the gloss of the lacquered wood. Perhaps, matte wood would be much better suited for this room and emphasized the beauty of the Spanish chandeliers Mariner with Swarovski crystals. On such a frilly ceiling, she is somewhat lost.
