Arrangement of a small bedroom from Lisa Tils

Arrangement of a small bedroom requires weighted solutions

Arrangement of a small bedroom - and we are talking about a bedroom that hardly exceeds the size of a bed, and it is not too spacious - can turn into a serious test, especially when it is the goal to create a functional and yet stylish interior.

Fortunately, there are many encouraging examples, and with one of them we intend to introduce you. It's about the bedroom that blogger Lisa Tils designed for her teenage daughter Roxy.

The layout of the arrangement of a small bedroom

Here's what she writes on her page on We Are Scout:

"The room is really tiny! Its dimensions are 2 x 2.7 m, and it was barely enough to put a double bed along the short side. The bed took more than half the area! Roxy dreamed of a comfortable shelter, which would look cool, but did not seem teenage. She asked for a big bed to chat with her girlfriends and simply "hang". " Lighting in a small bedroom

Lisa purchased the TARVA bed from IKEA and collected it, taking the headboard from another model, MANDAL. It was previously trimmed to fit the dimensions of the room, and fixed on the wall, along the long side of the bed. This headboard looks like a rack plate and is ideal for hanging various small items.

The ceiling height in the room is 3.3 m, and Lisa decided that the vertical space should be "broken" to balance the interior. She painted the walls in two colors - turquoise and gently pink, complementing the upper half with a simple drawing in the form of rings with fuzzy outlines.

A couple of pots with plants hang from the ceiling, visually linking the walls and ceiling with the rest of the room.

The girl is an avid reader, so the question of the necessity of bookshelves was not even discussed by anyone. Vertical racks - an excellent solution for compact interiors: they hold a lot, and places take up a little. Our heroine chose the model FJALKINGE from Ikea, as it fits perfectly into the narrow partition to the right of the French door.

Lisa believes that for small rooms it is better to use open shelving, because solid closets clutter space, weight it.

Wardrobe for clothes under the bed

In general, it was decided to abandon the cabinets altogether, as they would definitely cut the area of the room. Lisa chose to use the free space under the bed, where the boxes VARDO from Ikea fit perfectly.

Cozy bedroom for a girl

Since the bed is the most visible subject of the bedroom furnishings, the choice of bed linen should be given special attention. In this case, preference was given to monophonic textiles with a discreet drawing.

Here are a few tips from Lisa Tils:

1 Effectively use the space around the bed and under it. Try not to take up space on the floor. Pay attention to various suspended structures: shelves, racks, rails. 2 Give preference to high, but narrow shelves. Thus, you can use the vertical space and ensure the availability of storage space. 3 Use wall decor as a tool to manipulate the perception of space. You can draw attention to a certain area, make the room visually wider or higher. 4 Pay attention to the decoration of the bed. If it occupies most of the room, the quality and design of the bed linen is of great importance. Choose bright textiles that will not let the interior look sloppy.
