BMW Group presented its first production version of the BMW i8 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt 2013. Hybrid combines the dynamic capabilities of a supercar with low fuel consumption and minimal emissions, in general what you would expect from a small city car. The body is made of carbon fiber and reinforced plastic (CFRP). Under the hood is a hybrid system with a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engine.
The power plant develops 231 hp from its 1.5-liter internal combustion engine, which drives the rear wheels, and individual 131 hp produced by the electric drive are sent to the front wheels, which allows you to move only on electricity with maximum speed of 120 km / h, and power reserve of up to 35 kilometers. A high-performance electric car can fully charge up to 1.5 hours from an ordinary 220-volt outlet. The engine draws its energy from a lithium-ion battery centrally installed in the car, which creates a low center of gravity for even greater efficiency.
