Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world. Him height - 978 meters. The waterfall originates from the top of the flat mountain Ayan Tepuy and is located in the remote jungles of Venezuela. There are no hiking trails to this place. The waterfall was discovered early in the 20th century by researcher Ernesto Sanchez La Cruz, but was not widely known before the flight of James Angel. For the first time, Angel saw a waterfall in 1933, when he flew around the territory in search of ore. Four years later, Angel flew past a waterfall with three passengers on board, including his wife. The plane was damaged, and Angel had to put him on the peak of the mountain Auyan-tepui, the top of the waterfall. The Flamingo monoplane landed on a marshy land at the top of the waterfall and stayed there for 33 years until it was taken from there by a helicopter. Angel and three of his companions managed to descend the waterfall and return to civilization in 11 days. In honor of this heroic event the waterfall was named after the pilot.
Currently, the Angel plane is in the museum in Maracay, and at the top is its exact replica.
