But for the same reason the Grasscloth wallpaper is somewhat heavy and requires a special approach to installation.

What you need:

  1. priming of high quality (what is the reason for priming and read in a separate article);
  2. transparent, non-staining glue;
  3. glue roller;
  4. wide soft brush;
  5. plastic wallpaper straightener;
  6. very sharp knife;
  7. roulette, pencil and spatula (you may need to create even bends).

Preparation - step # 1

Turn off the electricity and remove from the walls fixtures, switches, outlet covers and any other protruding objects.

Wall cleaning - step number 2

Wash the walls well from dirt and dust with a household detergent or ammonia solution with water (1/6). Wipe them with a washcloth with clean water, then allow to dry.

Tools for gluing wallpapers

Application of glue to wallpaper - step number 4

Place the wallpaper on a clean and smooth surface facing down. Using the roller, apply glue evenly on the reverse side. It is most convenient to do this, standing alternately on the left and right side of the strip of wallpaper and performing brush strokes on yourself - from the middle to the edges.

Attention: which glue is suitable for installing natural wallpaper? Of all the variety of existing types and brands, you should choose the adhesives made on the basis of wheat flour or cellulose - they perfectly hold porous wallpaper Grasscloth and at the same time are environmentally friendly. If you prefer foreign manufacturers, then choose glue labeled Light Duty Premix. If you wish, you can also make a paste of potato starch with your own hand.

After applying the adhesive, natural wallpaper should be soaked for no more than 5 minutes. This time is quite enough for the glue to penetrate into the fibers of their paper substrate and it sprawls.

Preparation of wallpaper - step number 5

Raise the strip of glue spread to the ceiling and, visually dividing it into four parts, fold the two middle together - the glue to the glue. The free top quarter of the strip should be glued to the wall and smooth out first with a soft brush and then with a hard plastic straightener.

Wall wallpaper installation - step # 6

Carefully unfold the lower part of the strip of wallpaper and fix it on the wall as well as the top. Continue the process in the same spirit until the entire room is pasted. Use a sharp knife to cut off the edges of the wallpaper if necessary.

Glue wallpaper Grasscloth is not easy enough and you need to do it very carefully. The most important thing is to avoid getting glue or water on their front side, because of what they can change their color. Before installing a new strip, protect the edge with the special tape that is already installed side by side. If the glue still gets on the wallpaper, it will need to be quickly removed with a dry paper towel.
