Our hero - a promising administrator of twenty years old, living in a large suburb of San Francisco. Tired of the unnecessarily uncomplicated interior of his bachelor bedroom, he turned to designer Sarah Cosgrove with a request to develop for her a new image, more warm and at the same time stylish and functional. The main desire of the client was the possibility of working for a laptop in different parts of the room.

Until rework

Initially, one of the walls of the bedroom was dark blue, and the rest - white. A few items of furniture showed an accessory to the modern style. Among them - a bed on the platform and a desk that partially blocked the natural light, penetrating the room through the central window of the bay window.

Wallpaper muted colors, with a picture in the form of library shelving, have become a perfect background for a new bed. Giving a vintage character to the interior, they are a kind of replacement for real books, which in large numbers would look strange in such a compact space.

Wallpapers in many ways defined the color scheme of design. It is based on warm colors that fill the image with a feeling of coziness. In the role of the focal element of the interior is the head of the bed, made using the technology of a coach-lined cognac-colored leather. On either side of it are shelves of natural wood, on which the owner of the room stores his favorite books and souvenirs.

Pendant lamps on long cords look very modern, so that they can effectively contrast with a fairly quiet interior, not allowing it to seem old-fashioned. The author of the project believes that this decision brought her image closer to the nature of the customer - a young, progressive person working in the field of computer technology.

Kilim (smooth carpet) in the center of the room visually balances space and enriches it in terms of texture and graphic filling. A convenient C-shaped sliding table can be used as a stand for a laptop or for a direct purpose - during snacks and coffee breaks.

A section of the wall above the TV is turned into a home gallery. Here are posted graphic posters and personal photos of the client - all in a copper framework. According to Sarah Cosgrove, such galleries have high expressive potential, but at the same time their creation does not require large financial expenses. Light brown curtains soften the transition between the windows and the bay window.

The chair in the style of classical samples from Eames is a single composition with an additional table from McGuire Furniture, which is perhaps the most expensive piece of furniture. Together they form a cozy corner for reading, rest and work.

Patterned cushions perfectly dilute the neutral decoration of the bed. Sarah recalls that the mixture of monochrome and colorful colors helps to visually deepen the space.

In turn, holders for books of original designs make a geometric and textural variety in the "library" decor of the wall.

On either side of the bed there are night tables of traditional shape. Their figured legs and dark finish bring drama and a sense of mystery to the interior. Table lamps in the industrial style perfectly fit into the concept of eclecticism of this design.

The door was painted gray, and on top of it a chalk was imprinted with a geometric pattern imitating a classic decor with the use of moldings.

According to the author of the project, the updated design seems warm, comfortable and more appropriate to the character and tastes of the owner of the bedroom. In this image, real eclecticism is seen in its most reserved and balanced incarnation.
