At CES in January, Samsung and LG introduced curved OLED TVs. LG a little ahead of its competitors and have already released the panel for sale, but Samsung did not make long to wait.
The curved OLED TV has Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a built-in camera with a motion detection sensor in the top panel and comes with many smart functions such as Samsung Smart View and Smart Hub. Samsung says that no matter what distance or viewing angle the user chooses (well, of course within reasonable limits), he will get the perfect picture quality and will get the maximum pleasure from viewing.
The group view function allows users to watch two different programs at once, Samsung also took care of the sound by including the built-in headphones with 3D glasses for two spectators. All software can be updated via the Internet, without laying out for this extra money. Thanks to the curved metal frame, the device measures 777.7 x 1418.1 x 359.7 mm (56 x 31 x 14 inches) and a total weight of 30.9 kg (68 lb). It has a 40-watt RMS audio output, built-in wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as Ethernet LAN, and a 2D to 3D conversion system.
The bent OLED-TV will be sold at the recommended retail price of KRW 15000000 (about $ 13000). The company plans to produce a finished product outside of South Korea in July 2013.
